The dunks during the 2010 NBA Dunk Contest were easily outshined by the sneakers worn by the contestants, particularly that of Lakers high-flyer Shannon Brown.Shannon Brown may have fallen short in his quest to become the first Laker since Kobe Bryant to win the NBA Slam Dunk crown, but last night he proved that’s not cos of a lack of hangtime. He wore a sick pair of the Nike Zoom Kobe V iD with a colourway voted in by fans, but had the online voting not occurred, Brown was set to wear the above pictured colourway of the Kobe VPE.
The young backup guard caught a Pau Gasol alley oop behind his head and cranked it down in devistating fashion. Brown was wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe V ‘Big Stage’, but today we’re taking a second look at his ‘Throw it Down’ PE he was slated to wear at the aforementioned dunk contest.
hese ZKVs offer accent colors from the three primary shades of light, and combined with an iridescent graphite/grey upper, this is one of the most unique colorways to come along in recent years. At this point, there seems to be no story behind the choice of colors; the turquoise sole, blue midsole, silver/black upper, and red lining have no connection with his Michigan State alma mater, nor do they pay homage to his Lakers team. Actually, it’s a yellow trim short of being an Olympic colourway. On the insole is a message delivered Bill Walton style: “Throw it down, Shannon Brown. We hope to see ‘Throw it Down’ editions of other shoes, but until they become as common as the Bill Walton exclamation, check out more images of the original, plus video of that amazing jam, after the jump.
